About Academic Minds

Academic Minds is our dedicated recruitment platform for academic writers, editors, markers and tutors. Since 2006, we’ve built a trusted network of over 800 talented academics, and we’re always on the lookout for exceptional new experts across all subject areas. Our recruitment process is highly selective and thorough—only 4% of applicants succeed. This way, we can guarantee that every academic will deliver exceptional support to each student.

What We Are Looking For

Strong Academic Credentials

We require all our academics to hold a First or 2:1 postgraduate qualification (a Master’s and/or a PhD) from Oxbridge or another leading red-brick university in the UK. We also welcome applicants who have successfully graduated from prestigious international institutions such as Yale or Harvard.

Flawless English Writing Skills

Our academics must demonstrate a native-level command of English in order to deliver high-quality and accurate work in line with UK university expectations. This includes both strong language skills and a thorough understanding of referencing and citation practices.

Specialist Expertise

We are looking for graduates with deep, focused expertise in their field, whether it’s law, economics, engineering, literature, or more specialised disciplines. Some areas are in particularly high demand, including biosciences, physics, social sciences and business.

Advanced Research Skills

Our academics should be able to critically evaluate material and generate original insights. Strong knowledge of common academic referencing styles is essential, whereas practical experience with statistical tools such as E-views or SPSS is a valuable bonus.

Very very happy with my two orders! Much better than I expected and Ronan was fantastic over Zoom. I will, for sure, be back!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be an Oxford or Cambridge graduate to apply?

No, you don’t need to be an Oxford or Cambridge graduate to apply. While many of our academics are Oxbridge-educated, we actively recruit candidates from other top red-brick UK universities and prestigious London institutions. We also welcome applicants from leading international universities, including Ivy League schools such as Harvard or Yale.

How does the application process work?

To apply, register at Academic Minds and submit your most recent CV along with a cover letter detailing your education, research interests, qualifications, and skills. If you pass our initial screening, we’ll ask you to complete a written assessment (typically 1,000–1,300 words) on your specialist subject. If successful, you will then proceed to a phone interview and reference check, followed by an induction on working with us.

How flexible is the work?

The work is highly flexible. You decide how much or how little you work. You can commit to large projects such as dissertations or handle smaller assignments and take breaks whenever you wish. You’ll work from our dedicated Academic Minds portal, managing your workload and planning your schedule all in one place.

What subjects or fields are you interested in?

We welcome applications from Master’s and PhD graduates across all major subject areas, from law, business, economics, and medicine to psychology, science, engineering, and the arts and humanities. We are also interested in applicants with a subject specialism not taught at Oxford or Cambridge.

What kind of work can I take on as an academic?

You’ll have the flexibility to choose projects that suit your skills and interests. You can take on writing assignments, provide editorial and proofreading support, mark and review student work, or offer tailored tutoring sessions.

Do I have to commit to a minimum number of projects?

No, there’s no minimum commitment. You are free to decide how many projects you take on, depending on your availability and workload preferences.
